Station Name: Runoff Vote!

180 votes were cast in our survey of preferences for the station name for the BART station formerly known as “Alum Rock.”   Of the original 21 choices, seven received over 10% of the vote each.  So we are having a “runoff” survey with those top seven candidates.   Let us know your preference (vote for ONE only) by clicking on the link to the survey below.

Please keep the BART Station Naming Policy and Guidelines in mind.

Our friends at VTA wanted me to remind you that these guidelines will be used to determine the station names that the VTA Phase II Community Working Groups will recommend to the City of San Jose.  It is important that the station names can be recognized geographically from an overall BART system context and helpful for passengers who riding the system to get to their designation.  In addition, station names should be simple for quick recognition, distinction and ease of pronunciation.  From a station area context, station names could have historical basis and should be geographically significant.  Stations cannot be named after private or commercial enterprises.

Here are the top ten candidates from our survey asking for opinions on new name suggestions for the BART station at 28th street. Station Name Survey
