We had a phenomenal clean up crew out on the Five Wounds trail this morning — 104 volunteers (the most ever), including 50 community members (an especially big crew from McKinley/Bonita), 24 Cristo Rey students (first time participants), 17 SJSU students and a Downtown Streets Team of 13.
We collected 150 bags of trash–15 cubic yards or 3 truckloads (thank you Paul Pereira from the Office Mayor Sam Liccardo) and dragged a few large items to intersections for the VTA maintenance crew to pick up.
We covered more territory than ever before — all the way to Julian plus the Five Wounds Lane loop around the site of the prospective BART station.
There was notably less trash on the main part of the trail than last spring and we were finished by 11 a.m.
Thanks to all who participated — and if you didn’t, we hope you can join us in April.
