Today we had 57 Friends of Trail turn out for our clean up — including Mayor Sam Liccardo, Councilman Raul Peralez, and crews from Downtown Streets Team, Save Our Trails, Sustainable SJ D3, McKinley/Bonita, San Jose State University, West Valley Community College, Meet Up (thanks James Coberly), CommUniverCity and, of course, the leaders of Friends of Five Wounds Trail–and more. Sorry if I forgot any one — I’ve really gotta start writing a list!
The trail was in fairly clean condition — Downtown Streets Team has been there lately and VTA’s contractors appear to have been out last week collecting some of the big stuff and cutting back the weeds.
We collected 92 bags of trash — in just an hour because we had such a large and energetic crew.
Special kudos to Paul Pereira of the mayor’s office, who hauled it all away, and to the extra-dedicated, fear-no-trash team that spent most of the hour emptying out the disgusting pile up in one of the signal shacks (they’ve really gotta go!).
